The wine tour begins in the municipality of Lonato del Garda at the Abbey of Maguzzano. The religious-cultural center welcomes dialogue between religions. Part of the abbey’s premises will soon be available again, after a renovation.
Our journey continues among the olive trees with a look at the lake. Proceed on the flat towards the town of Padenghe. Downtown we find the uphill path that leads to the Castle. A few minutes of a panoramic stop to embrace the lake; after a few flat steps, we resume the uphill walk to Pratello. On the top of the hill, a visit to the winery awaits us with tasting combined with a light meal.
After the break, we set off the return via an alternative route to the Church of Sant Emiliano. Sant’Emiliano rises at an extraordinary panoramic point with an incredible sight. It seems that the place was a Roman temple before Christ. This story is mutual to many religious buildings. Humans have always aimed to rise, even to fly mythology reports. And on the top hills and mountains, they raised places of inspiration and thanksgiving. We continue the descent into the meadow and the woods to reach the path and return to the parking lot.
The complete route is approx. 9 km and lasts 5 hours max, including tasting.
The tasting includes three wines. Two of them are Valtenesi DOP paired with a light lunch with local foods. During the visit, we present the local grape of the territory: the Groppello. Local wines might be a single grape when the juice comes from Groppello only or blend when other grapes are present. Products of the earth always tell stories of nature and people who have cared for them for centuries.
The originality of a walking wine tour through wine and history, retracing the ancient routes. Immerse yourself in this local experience and savor local products, especially wine. Thanks to the visit to the cellar and the tasting you will also learn part of the history of the local wine.
